Sawankhalok Sukhothai small lidded box antique Thai

Description

The Sawankhalok kilns were active from about 1250 to about 1700 or so. However the highest production of Sawankhalok ware was from about 1300 to about 1500. This was the period when this piece was made.
This charming box is in the form of a persimmon adding character to its purpose.
This box was purchased at a fundraising auction for the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University.
The bowl measures: 3 in diameter X 2 1/2 in height.
