Description

This is a wonderful old  brass lime container from Burma. Traditionally this antique brass lime container was used for keeping lime paste which was added to betel nut and spices, then chewed, providing a mild intoxication. This was a popular habit throughout much of Southeast Asia and remains so today in many places. The brass container has a simple design and fits neatly together, which is unusual for older pots such as this. There is still residue left from the lime paste and the container has a nice patina from use.  This would be a wonderful old piece of culture to add to your collection.
