Granger Special GS8642 Bamboo Fly Rod, 8 1/2 ft. 3 piece, 2 tips with factory tube and sock. This is a 3 piece rod with an extra tip. Components and tube date this rod between 1935-1938. Used, very good condition. All sections same length, straight and complete. Guides, wrappings, ferrules and reel seat are in excellent condition. Cork is missing a small chunk near the reel seat. The pieces were sticking to the rod sock when I acquired it, so the finish is irregular where the pieces were stuck. Probably due to improper storage. Hard to see in the photos. However, other than that, the finish looks pretty good, no peeling or flaking. Sections protrude about an inch past the sock, as was typical on Grangers. Tube has scratches and handling wear, but no dents. Tube cap fits properly and has small dents on top. Tube label is in poor condition. Rod sock is in pretty good condition.., no tears, holes or odors, but has some bleed-through staining where rod pieces were stuck as described above. Granger catalogs from this period listed the line weight as HEH, which corresponds to a DT5 weight for todays modern lines. However, todays lines are lighter than the silk fly lines that were used when this rod was made. So you'll have to experiment to find the appropriate modern line.  Ships in plastic tube.
