Description
A distinctive gift for Civil War history enthusiastsand anyone who has known the loyalty of a special dog
"The Loyalty of Dogs” Tribute and "Vigil: July 1, 1863" honor the dogs who accompanied soldiers to war and earned their enduring admiration and affection.
Many soldiers formed a lifelong bond with their dogs. Veterans of the 11th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry ensured that their canine mascot, Sallie Ann Jarrett, would be remembered for generations as a symbol of loyalty. A life-size, bronze statue of Sallie was included in a place of honor on the regiment’s monument at the Gettysburg Battlefield, where she faithfully remained guarding her injured and dead companions. It remains there today as the soldiers' expression of their eternal gratitude. See a synopsis of her story in the accompanying video. (Please note: The video is provided for information only; it is not being sold with the prints.)
This pair of photo prints is sized to fit 8" x 10" frames and includes these two images:
"The Loyalty of Dogs" Tribute celebrating the loyalty and trust shared by the soldiers and their dogs, a bond still remembered 157 years after the war. (See additional photo to read the tribute.)
"Vigil: July 1, 1863," a portrait of Sallie's statue, watching over the field where her soldiers fought on the first day at Gettysburg.
The photos are printed on matte photo stock.
