    To be honest, I don't know much about this piece as it was a gift in 1988 from an interior designer friend. She said it was from Indonesia but I cannot find anything comparable on EBay. The carved figures on the lid represent betelnut chewers.
    Most betelnut boxes I have found are quite small, so this may be for a different kind of storage.
    The main box measures (approximately) 8"L x 3.5"W x 3"H. Height including figures: 5.5"
    The wood is quite heavy.
