    Description

    This scale was purchased by a friend (David) while living in
    Thailand in 1989 & 1990.  It is an excellent example of Northern Thailand hill tribe workmanship.  It is a complete unit with a teak case, weight (34 g), balance rod, pan (believed to be brass or copper; it's not steel) and original strings. The case cover has 3 lovely carved opium poppy seed pods.  The letter from my friend lends to the provenance of the scale.  I put a 90 g steel piece in the pan (not included in sale) so I could photograph the scale in actual use.
