Antique Iron Javanese Ceremonial Kris / Knife w/ Carved Wood Handle (Indonesia)

Description

This is a beautifully detailed Antique Ceremonial Kris / Keris Dagger from Java (Indonesia).  The Kris was originally purchased in Jakarta in 1966 by my father who was an active antique collector during his period as a Junior Foreign Service Officer in the U.S. Embassy.  I estimate the knife dates to well before the turn of the century.  The Scabbard is made from both Brass & Inlaid Wood.  Overall the Kris is in Fine to Very Fine Condition

Kris & Blade Dimensions: 2 1/4 inches wide, 16 3/4 inches long with depth of 3/4 of an inch.  Weight: 6.6 ounces (186 grams)
Scabbard Dimensions: 7 1/4 inches wide, 18 inches long with depth of 1 1/2 of an inch.  Weight: 6.4 ounces (182 grams)
Total Kris Weight: 13 ounces (368 grams)
