Description
Gorgeous true antique brass Gador, made by the Maranao people in the Philippines easily over 100 years ago, and could possibly be much older.Hand laid brass with copper spots throughout. Also there could possibly be silver within this piece, under or around in the tarnish. I have not tested this piece for silver at all, so I really am not sure if there is silver or not...
This piece shows its age throughout the years with tarnish, dings and bumps, minor tarnishing, and other wear.
This particular Gador measures roughly 10" in diameter x 20" tall to the top of the lid, and weighs over 13lbs on it's own.
Below is a little info I took from another location, but the same info applies....
From the Islamic Maranao people of the southern Philippines' island of Mindanao, the shape shows influence from Mughal India and also Persia. Equally, the form is suggestive of Chinese porcelain ginger jars. The lids are domed and finished with tall spires. They belong to a group of jars known as gadurs or gadors. Gador jars were used to hold the ceremonial gifts for the bride's family given by the groom's relatives during wedding festivals. The gadurs were displayed in Maranao households and usually were received as gifts to for special occasions - such as gifts at weddings between wealthy people. Brassware items such as these were also used in nearby Borneo. They have some wear from use and age and some flaws from casting but overall they are exceptional pieces. These are rarely seen outside of museums.

Please do no ruin auctions for others, or take away other potential buyers chances to buy a piece they may want. It's a giant waste of time for everyone involved. So please make sure you are serious when bidding!!
Can you go back to your local auction house and return pieces for a full refund after bidding everyone else out, winning, paying, and taking the piece home?? Or can you go into your local antique store and demand a full refund after holding onto or using a piece for 30 days?? The same normal everyday rational rules of human engagement apply here!!
Treasure hunting for you is how I pay the bills. It takes quite a bit of time to sell each piece from beginning to end; Searching for, procuring it, cleaning it up, researching, photography, all the middle parts you see when you are on eBay looking, then high quality thoughtful packing, shipping, etc.
I am running a very small honest business, not an Amazon or Walmart. Most of my pieces are vintage or antique, and sometimes have the possibility of showing a little bit of character. I will always do my very best to disclose everything to my full ability.
