    Description

    This long, embroidered tapis, or strip of fabric worn as a covering, depicts abstract shapes representing squids. It was used as adornment for a wedding sash in the Lampung region of Sumatra, an island of Indonesia. The tpaids is in wonderful shape, mounted on a linen fabric and framed. The sash itself measures 56-inches long by 3.5-inches wide. The brushed, goldtone frame measures 60-inches long and 9-inches wide.
